AUTOart 1:18 Porsche 911 (991.2) GT2 RS Weissach Package (Acid Green) – Review

Porsche’s GT2 RS Weissach is the ultimate street-legal racecar, and AutoArt’s lime Acid Green model captures its insanity perfectly. The high-vis green paint looks fantastic under lights, and the Weissach package’s carbon accents pop alongside it. In this review, I’ll dive into how well this 1:18 diecast mirrors the real GT2 RS Weissach – from its radical aero to its roll-cage-lined cabin – and whether it lives up to the hype (it does).

Exterior & Paint – 9/10

AutoArt nailed the GT2 RS’s aggressive looks in this acid-green finish. The paint is glossy with a subtle metallic flake, and it pops against all the carbon parts. The Weissach carbon roof, engine cover, and hood reflect light beautifully, and every air intake and vent is sharply defined. The GT2’s massive rear wing and front splitter are present and sturdy. Panel gaps are tight and consistent. This model absolutely oozes “race car for the road” presence, just like the real Weissach car.

Detail & Accuracy – 8/10

The amount of realism here is impressive. The model even has a painted roll cage visible through the windows – a telling Weissach touch. All exterior trim (Porsche crests, RS badges, carbon grilles) are crisply applied. The tiny ceramic brakes and turbo outlets are finely cast. Inside, the carpeted interior adds authenticity. It’s also fully licensed, so it has the right logos and proportions. One minor nitpick: some small items (like the fuel cap) are just molded plastic, and the front frunk has minimal detail under it. But overall the model’s details hit the mark for a high-end release.

Interior & Features – 7/10

Open the doors and you see a spot-on race-ready cockpit. There are bucket seats with proper sculpting and visible six-point harnesses, and the dash has carbon fiber trim pieces (as expected in Weissach cars). It’s mostly black, which is correct, with a bit of colored stitching. Importantly, there’s a full roll cage built in, just like the real Weissach car’s safety hardware. The steering wheel and pedals look good. The feel is decidedly spartan – this isn’t a luxury cabin – but it matches the track-focused nature of the actual GT2 RS. With the doors open, you can appreciate how AutoArt recreated the cage and seats, which adds play value. It’s not plush, but it’s authentic.

Functionality – 8/10

This model comes ready to handle. Both doors open solidly on hinge, letting you peek inside or pose it dynamically. The front frunk lid opens to reveal an empty but nicely molded compartment (mirroring the real car’s frunk). The rear engine cover also tilts up (the model’s V8 intercooler and engine bay are molded under it). All wheels turn on the steering mechanism, and they’re wrapped in real rubber tires for grip. Underneath, the chassis is diecast, giving it heft. The suspension doesn’t articulate (normal for these), but overall it feels heavy and well-built. I do wish the trunk had a little more detail under it, but otherwise everything operates smoothly. In short, it’s fully interactive for a static model – the hallmark of AutoArt quality.

Value – 7/10

Expect to pay a premium for this car. It launched around $240 USD and hovers in the $220–$230 range now. That’s steep, but it’s comparable to what collectors pay for other premium GT2 RS models. For reference, AutoArt’s other Weissach GT2 RS colors (white 78171, yellow 78172, blue 78175, black 78186) all list around $264.99. So this green model was slightly cheaper on sale. Considering the build quality, license, and the limited appeal of the Acid Green color (not many models sport it), it’s fair value for enthusiasts. It’s definitely not a bargain, but for a top-tier 1:18 Porsche it’s in line with expectations.

Pros

  • Striking color & finish: The Acid Green paint and carbon accents look phenomenal.
  • High detail: Real rubber tires, carpeted cabin, roll cage (correct Weissach detail).
  • Fully functional: Opening front hood and engine cover, steerable wheels.
  • Race-ready accuracy: Roll cage and racing seats make it authentic to the Weissach spec.

Cons

  • Spartan interior: Cabin is spot-on but very black and utilitarian.
  • Few simplifications: Some plastic details (like basic fuel cap) could be more detailed.
  • High price: It’s a premium collector’s piece (though commensurate with quality).

Overall Score – 8.2/10

AutoArt’s GT2 RS Weissach in Acid Green is a fantastic collector’s model. It nails the extreme Porsche styling and exclusive color, with solid execution on both look and functionality. Yes, it’s expensive and very track-focused inside, but that’s exactly what the Weissach GT2 RS is all about. For fans of Porsche’s wildest 911, this model delivers the full experience on a small scale.
