BBR 1:18 Ferrari Daytona SP3 Closed Roof (Matt White) – Review
This BBR Daytona SP3 in matte white is an ultra-rare 1:18 model that nails the supercar’s exotic design
The Daytona SP3’s brutal beauty comes alive in BBR’s 1:18 Matt White Icona edition. This limited-run model (24 pieces) sports a true closed hardtop and comes with a display case, showcasing the SP3’s sleek lines in razor-sharp white. In this review I’ll walk through how it captures the real car’s design and presence – from its artful details to its engine cover – and whether it feels like the exotic Ferrari it represents.
Exterior & Paint – 9/10
The matte white finish is flawless. BBR nailed the subdued Bianco Italia matte coating, giving it a stealthy look that changes subtly under light. The carbon-fiber panels (roof and engine deck) are faithfully replicated in painted carbon texture, and the red pinstriping adds the right pop. Panel gaps around the doors and hood are minimal and even. Every vent, light cluster, and badge (like the trident crest) is crisply rendered. Overall, this model nails the SP3’s sculptural design in miniature.

Detail & Accuracy – 9/10
BBR spared no detail. The wheels match Ferrari’s design exactly, including red calipers and drilled rotors. The interior (visible through the closed top’s glass) is in Cartier red leather, just like the description promises. Even tiny items – gear selector buttons, stitching patterns, the Daytona SP3 nameplate – are present. The under-hood (rear engine bay) is beautifully detailed: you can see the complex twin-turbo V8 components through the grille under the fixed engine cover. The Ferrari lettering and exhaust tips at the back are on point. In short, it’s an extremely faithful reproduction of an SP3.

Interior & Features – 8/10
With the hardtop in place, we look in through the windshield. The cabin is all black with the bright red seats being the main contrast. The seating surfaces have proper texture and stitching. The steering wheel, dash, and center console are all well-molded; for example, the Ferrari badge on the wheel and the digital dash cluster are clearly defined. The interior is mostly dark, so some details are muted, but it feels like a true SP3 cockpit. The doors don’t open (as expected for a closed-resin model), and there’s a fixed roof (carbon-style hardtop), reinforcing that this is a display-only piece. It’s authentic and sharp, if naturally static.

Functionality – 7/10
As a closed-roof resin model, this SP3 is primarily for display. There are no opening parts – the doors, hood, and trunk are fixed solidly in place (the official description and packaging make this clear). The focus is on looks, not play. The model does include a removable glass display case with base, which is a nice touch for collectors. The wheels are fixed (no steering mechanism) and it doesn’t roll out of the box. In use, it’s about as simple as it gets: you lift it out of its case to admire the detail, but you won’t be fiddling with any hinges. In short, it’s a showcase piece rather than a toy – exactly what you want for a premium model like this.

Value – 8/10
This Icona SP3 is very pricey but fittingly exclusive. The original MSRP was $1,149.95, making it one of the more expensive 1:18 Ferraris (beyond even many resin models). Secondary-market prices today hover around $600 for a like-new piece. By comparison, other SP3 releases (like the Rosso Corsa 322 closed-top or Yellow trilayer) started around $460–500. Considering you’re getting an ultra-limited run (24 pcs) in a unique color with a case, the premium is somewhat justified. It’s a serious investment, but for hardcore collectors it’s a standout piece that few others have.

Pros
- Immaculate paint: The matte white finish and carbon accents are perfectly executed.
- Stunning detail: Ferrari-level interior detailing (red seats, dash) and a visible V8 engine under the rear cover.
- Display-worthy: Includes a clear case and base, highlighting the car from all angles.
- Rare & collectible: Limited to 24 pieces, making it a genuine collector’s item.
Cons
- No open parts: Doors and hood are solid; it’s a display model, not a play model.
- High price: Even used it’s expensive (~$600+), which is a big ask for most buyers.
- Dark cabin: The mostly black interior looks realistic but hides some detail.
Overall Score – 8.6/10
BBR’s Matt White Daytona SP3 is a stunning collectible. Its flawless finish and detail-rich build capture the supercar’s allure, and the included case makes it a perfect showcase item. Yes, it’s very pricey and sealed shut, but for a scale passion project, it checks all the boxes. In short, this Daytona SP3 model is a top-tier display piece for true Ferrari enthusiasts.
